About Simon
Simon Upton has had quite the journey in life, from his younger years as a member of Australia's national swim team, which culminated in his participation in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, through to his career switch at the age of 23, to become a photographer and filmmaker. Firstly, he was in Holland, then assisting in Italy and France, before a seven year stint in New York that only ended after the tragic events of 9/11; that was the impetus of his move home, where he met his wife and started a family.
Over the years, his work has often been characterised by his use of natural light and the locations he draws inspiration from, both in Australia and overseas. Though predominantly working in the fashion and advertising spaces, he has always been drawn to unique homes, weekenders and escapes, often in remote locations. Simon is pursuing this passion further by setting up Restituere, where everyday homeowners who list their property through air-bnb or other holiday stay sites, get the opportunity to have Simonβs eye over their property through his unique lens.
